In all my years of baking, I have never tried Hershey’s “Perfectly Chocolate” Chocolate Cake… Gasp! Shocking, I know… Well, I have heard many a rave review about the recipe, so when I got a hankering for baking, I decided to give this recipe a try!
Ingredients
- 2 C sugar
- 1-3/4 C all-purpose flour
- 1/4 C Hershey’s Cocoa
- 1-1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1-1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 C milk
- 1/2 C vegetable oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 C boiling water (I recommend using coffee!)
Directions
- Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees and prepare pans (pan grease)
- Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl (I recommend sifting first then add to bowl and whisk to combine)
- Add eggs, milk, oil and vanilla
- Beat on med. speed for 2 minutes and then stir in boiling water (or coffee) *Batter will be thin
- Bake 30-35 min. or until toothpick comes out clean
- Cool 10 minutes and remove from pans to cool on wire rack (cool completely)
- Makes two 9″ rounds or approximately 30 cupcakes
This chocolate recipe is excellent! It will be a new staple in my home, and may become my new standard chocolate cake! I highly recommend you try it (if you haven’t already!).
I have posted the recipe as Hershey has written it (with my recommendation of adding coffee!), so there is no confusion, and anyone can re-create it. However, to see what I did with this recipe, check out my next blog post: OMG! Cupcakes!!
Happy Caking 🙂
